Plein Air Paint Out June 24th-28th & Exhibition June 29th-July 10th, 2010
You are invited to participate in this unique opportunity to capture the spectacular vistas of the Flathead Reservation, homelands of the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes. Encompassing 1.317 million acres within Flathead, Lake and Sanders counties, potential painting locations include; the Mission Mountains, Flathead Lake, Clark Fork and Flathead Rivers, Ninepipe National Wildlife Refuge, the National Bison Range, St. Ignatius Mission and many more. This event is sponsored by the Sandpiper Gallery & Gift Shop (SAG) located at 306 Main Street in Polson, Montana.
This event is limited to the first 50 pre-registered artists. Artists must submit a non-refundable fee with their application (see attached) to register and for inclusion of two entries into “Reservation Views” the official exhibition following the paint out, to be held at the Sandpiper Gallery from June 29-July 10, 2010. Artists may use any painting or drawing medium and work at their choice of locations anytime during this 4 day event. All work submitted for the exhibition must be on a pre-stamped support, be done in the traditional “en plein aire” manner, without the assistance of photography and be framed and ready to hang. Each artist may have as many supports (canvases, boards or papers) pre-stamped as they wish. Submitting art for the exhibition is not mandatory however it provides the artist an opportunity to potentially sell their work and/or be awarded one of many prizes including; The People’s Choice Award (voted on by patrons during the exhibition), The Sandpiper Select Award (selected by the paint out committee) and various Merchant Awards (selected by local merchants who donate cash and/or gift certificates). Any remaining proceeds from this event support SAG and its Scholarship fund.
Dates To Remember:
June 1st: Application forms & fees are due on or before this date. The event is open to the first 50 registered artists so register ASAP. See application for additional details.
Thursday - June 24th from 8 am -10 am at SAG: Official Artist Welcome– Sign in, meet the other artists, get your supports stamped, pick up complimentary snacks, maps and directions to recommended locations and get those “last minute” questions answered.
Friday and Saturday – June 25th and 26th from 10 am- 4pm at SAG: Latecomers sign in and pre-stamping of supports continues. The gallery’s workroom will be available for you to frame your own work. Artists are responsible for all frames and framing supplies. No saw tooth hangers accepted.
Sunday – June 27th from 5 to 7 pm “Sneak Peek & Critique” at SAG: Deliver your finished work, check out the other entries, enjoy a glass of wine, light snacks and share your suggestions for next year.
June 29- July 10: Reservation Views exhibition opens to the public
Friday – July 9 – 5pm – 7pm – Artist Reception and Award Presentations (open to the public)
Pick up your work either after the reception on Friday July 9th or Saturday, July 10th from 10 am-3 pm.

By registering for the Reservation Views Plein Aire Paint Out, I affirm that I have read the prospectus
and by signing the entry form I agree to abide by its terms. I will participate in both the plein air paint-out and the exhibition/sale. The Sandpiper Gallery and Gift Shop (SAG) will handle all sales of artwork produced during the event until it closes July 10, 2010. A 30% commission (20% commission for SAG members) on all Reservation Views Plein Aire Paint Out works sold will be retained. SAG assumes no responsibility for lost, damaged or stolen items. The undersigned discharges the Reservation Views Plein Air Paint Out committee and the Sandpiper Gallery and Gift Shop of any and all claims, damages and suits from damages or loss to the undersigned’s property during the event. The undersigned agrees to abide by the rules established by the Reservation Views Plein Air Paint Out committee. Anyone not in compliance will be suspended from future participation and is subject to removal with no refund of registration fee.
