ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I have been a Montana resident since 1971, married to a native Montanan who would live nowhere else!! I agree, Montana is the best place to live!
In 1983, after my children were grown, I began painting watercolors. They had all taken watercolor classes from Hazel Foley in Missoula and it looked like so much fun whenever I picked them up from the classes!! So finally I took a class. While living in Missoula I painted sporadically, but since moving to Polson in 1999 and finding the Sandpiper Art Gallery watercolorists, I have painted more regularly and taken workshops and classes. I enjoy the fluidity and movement of watercolor painting. Seeing the colors move and intermix on the paper, & the special effects that happen when you add another element is fascinating to me.
In 2006 & 2007 I entered the Montana Watermedia Shows and was adjudicated into the shows both times. I hope to become a signature member!
Many subject matters interest me, but I seem to end up painting mostly florals! I particularly enjoy the new freedom that Yupo & Tygerag papers allow. Also, I find it satisfying to reproduce my paintings into notecards. Watercolor painting, classes, workshops and experimentation will be lifelong activities!
