Jane Carr

I was raised in Montana and spent summers in Minneapolis.  Family there had careers in music, theatre, abstract art and literature.

As a young adult I developed an interest in East Indian thought and art.  This easily followed into a way of expression of the Self as in the Universal Self.

Other art forms have influenced my paintings.  Musically Stravinsky and jazz arts like Coltrane, Miles Davis, Eddie Harris and Native Drumming have influenced me.  Literary influences have been William Blake, Carlos Castaneda, the Russian Novelists and French Symbolists.

As a colorist I am more interested in the symbolic and expressive use of color than its representational use.
